The PEGASUS Award

Programs of Excellence Guaranteering Adult Students Unlimited Success

The PEGASUS Award for Program Excellence is granted *bi-annually to an Adult Basic Education program or consortium by the State of Minnesota (MDE-ABE) and the Literacy Action Network, Minnesota's professional organization.  The award recognizes superior program quality and excellent adult student achievement.  Selection criteria are based on the ABE Quality Indicators and additional criteria unique to the type of ABE program.

*Please note the award cycle has been revised to an every other year format.  The next PEGASUS Award will be given in August, 2013.  Program applications and the call for reviewers will go out September 2012. Any large ABE consortium (reported 100,000 or more contact hours in the previous year) will be eligible.

2011 PEGASUS Award Recipient - Neighborhood House

 
The PEGASUS review team especially loved the holistic nature of Adult Education services and appreciated how the program works within the context of other agency services in basic needs and youth leadership.  The Adult Education program at Neighborhood House teaches the literacy and life skills necessary for gaining economic self-sufficiency and creating future opportunities for adult learners and their families, helping participants go from survive to thrive.
