Option 1:
ABE New Teacher Orientation

Are you new to ABE?  Do you want to share ideas with other ABE teachers from around the state?  Wondering where you fit in the big picture of ABE?
This pre-conference workshop will provide an overview of Adult Basic Education in Minnesota for instructors who are new to the field or would like a review of the basics.  We'll cover a variety of topics, including:  the ABE delivery system; funding; planning for instruction; student persistence; ABE policy and accountability expectations; and professional development.
You will have the opportunity to ask your questions, meet ABE professionals from around the state, get practical tips for your classroom, and learn about additional training options.  All participants will receive an ABE teacher orientation handbook.  ABE managers are encouraged to send new staff members to this training.
To prepare for the session, participants are required to complete the “Planning for Instruction” unit on the online New Teacher Orientation course prior to attending.  The unit should take about one hour to complete and can be found at http://online.themlc.org.
